GUWAHATI, Jan 25 In the third such incident in the city this month, a leopard strayed into a residential area, which was later successfully tranquilized and sent to the Assam State Zoo.
Unlike in the previous two cases, the leopard was a sub-adult one and none was injured by it.
The leopard was spotted at a godown at Lalung Gaon near Lokhra. We were informed about the leopard around 1 pm following which a forest squad with veterinarians arrived at the spot and tranquilized the animal, SK Sealsharma, DFO, Guwahati Wildlife Division, told The Assam Tribune.
It is believed that the leopard strayed into the village from the nearby Garbhanga hills.
On January 7 and again on January 20, two full-grown adult leopards were found straying into the citys Silpukhuri and Pandu areas respectively.
