Leopard rescued from well

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 12 - An adult leopard that had accidentally fallen into a well at the Narakasur hillside near Bhangagarh, was rescued by Forest Department personnel with help from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and police.

Locals noticed the leopard in the well in the morning hours and informed the Forest Department. A team of the department reached the spot around 9.30 am and started the rescue operation. The animal was rescued around 11.30 am.

We had to remove the water from the well, as tranquilizing the animal in water was risky and could result in drowning of the unconscious animal. The leopard is recuperating in the State Zoo and is in good condition, a forest official said.
