JORHAT, March 30 - A leopard strayed into a village under Pulibor PS on the outskirts of Jorhat on Monday morning and injured a person, creating panic among the villagers.

Police made arrangements to take the injured person to hospital.

The leopard later moved to an adjoining house and went inside the space between the tin roof and the ceiling. As news spread, people came in large numbers to the spot. Police sent back the crowd, asking them to follow the lockdown directive.

A Forest Department team arrived at the spot and informed the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation at Borjuri near the Kaziranga National Park. A team from the CWRC with veterinary doctors arrived at the site and tranquilized the leopard.
