By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 27 In the fourth such instance within the month and the second incident at Lalung Gaon, Lokhra within three days an adult female leopard that had entered a human settlement was successfully tranquilized and sent to the Assam State Zoo this morning.

Two persons were injured when the panicked leopard attacked a pregnant woman, Aklima Biwi, and her husband Mafiz Ali. Both of them have been admitted to the GMCH and are said to be stable.

Forest officials suspect that the leopard could be the mother of the sub-adult leopard that was captured in the same area on Wednesday.

We were intimated about the presence of the leopard around 7-30 am following which a team of forest personnel and veterinarians from the Zoo arrived at the spot. The leopard was locked inside a house and we could tranquilize it. Yunush Salim, range officer, Lokhra said.
