Lekhika samaroh meet from Jan 27

TIHU, Jan 21 - Tihu is all set to host the 27th biennial conference of the All Assam Lekhika Samaroh Samiti from January 27 with a four-day programme at the Chandraprova Saikiani Kshetra (Tihu High School playground) with pomp and gaiety.

The first day's programme will begin with the opening of the delegates' camp by Bibha Bujarbarua, vice-president, All Assam Lekhika Samaroh Samiti at 4:30 pm. 'Antaranga Alaap' will be held at 4:45 pm which will be conducted by Swarna Barua Gogoi, president of the State body. The welcome address will be delivered by Kamala Deka, president of the celebration committee.

The second day's programme will begin with the hoisting of the flag by Swarna Barua Gogoi followed by the hoisting of the flag of the unit by Kamala Deka along with the hoisting of 26 flags. The lamp lighting programme and smriti tarpan will be held at 9:30 am and 9:40 am respectively. A tree plantation programme will also be held.

Thereafter, two seminars on the topics, �The grave condition of the Assamese people in the present transitional period� and �the role of women writers in their uplift�, will be held. The seminars will be attended by Dr Jyotish Bhagawati, retired professor, Tihu College, Sanjib Kr Das, DC, Nalbari, Binita Deka, ex-president State committee, Dr Dilip Kr Dutta, retired professor, Rhode Island University, USA, Sahityacharjya Dr Ramesh Pathak, �Nalbari Ratna� Dr Basanta Kr Bhattacharya, Dr Hitesh Deka, Vice-Chancellor, KK Handique Open University and Dr Junu Mahanta, retired professor, Chabua College. The other programmes of the day will be delegates' meeting and cultural night etc.

The third day's programme will include cultural procession and open meeting. Dr Lakshmi Nandan Bora, ex-president. Asam Sahitya Sabha and Dr Sanjib Borthakur will formally inaugurate the open meeting. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the chief guest at the open meeting. The other invited guests include Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hagrama Mohilary, Pramila Rani Brahma, Eli Ahmed, Dr Jayanta Chutiya, Dr Joyshree Goswami Mahanta, Annada Saikia, Dr Sukha Barua, Puspa Gogoi, Pabindra Deka, Ashok Sarma, Ranjit Das, Narayan Deka, Thaneswar Basumatary, Abdul Khalek, Jayanta Malla Barua, Pallab Bhattacharya, Thaneswar Malakar, Pradip Saloi, Dr Kishore Kr Talukdar, Kamakhya Bujarbarua, Kamaleswar Medhi etc.

Meanwhile, the president and the secretary of the celebration committee have requested the people of greater Tihu area to cooperate in the hosting of this function to make it a grand success.
