GUWAHATI, Oct 15 - Veteran Leftist leader and central committee member of the Revolutionary Communist Party of India (RCPI) Ambu Bora passed away at his residence located near Ganesh Mandir at Ganeshguri here today.
Bora (90) leaves behind three sons, a daughter and a host of relatives. His wife had predeceased him.
Bora�s last rites were performed at the Navagraha cremation ground, RCPI sources said.
Bora had suffered a stroke around three months back and was bedridden since then.
Born at Meteka village near Raha, Bora took part in the freedom struggle during his student days and was also jailed during the Quit India Movement.
He was associated with the RCPI since the mid-1940s and remained a member of the party till his demise.
He had served in various positions in the RCPI and was a member of the party�s central committee as well as Assam state committee at the time of his passing away.
Bora had also contested Legislative Assembly polls from Raha seat and Lok Sabha elections from the Guwahati constituency as a candidate of RCPI during earlier years.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Communist Party of India (CPI) Assam state committee secretary in-charge Dambaru Bora, and Communist Party of India (Marxist) Assam state committee secretary Deben Bhattacharya, among others, condoled the demise of the veteran leader.
