Law student held for molesting minor girl

DHUBRI, Feb 25 - Dhubri Police apprehended a Law student accused of molesting a female HSLC candidate recently at the examination centre�s washroom.

After making good his escape after the incident on February 20, Abu Bakkar Siddique, a resident of Hatsingimari and a student of Dhubri Law College was apprehended by police at the Palpara area of the town. As per an FIR lodged in this connection, Siddique was hiding in the washroom of the HSLC examination centre.

As per the case record, when the female candidate headed for the washroom during her Mathematics examination on Monday, she was molested by Siddique. It was also informed that after the minor girl screamed for help, she was released by the accused, following which he fled. He had been absconding since that incident.

Sanjoy Borgohain, in-charge of the college outpost said, �After a long game of hide and seek, Siddique was trapped and apprehended by police. A case under 354 B of IPC and Section 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 has been registered against the accused�.

However, the entire scenario took an ugly turn on that day when the angry relatives of the minor, who were also searching for the accused in order to hand him over to the police, allegedly attacked a hostel mate of the accused named Ruhul Amin with sharp weapons, police informed. The Law College authority on the other hand filed an FIR against the relatives of the victim for brutally attacking its student on the college premises.
