Law and order has collapsed in Tripura: Union Minister

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Jan 16 - Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla alleged that the law-and-order situation in the poll-bound state has collapsed completely.

There is no law-and-order in Tripura. The poll-bound state witnessed seven murder cases in a span of three to four days and most of them belonging to SC community, he told media at a press conference here.

Sampla said a total anarchy like situation prevails in Tripura and there are persistent efforts to suppress the truth but the truth will prevail finally.

Since the law and order is a state subject, the Centre cant intervene on it! But people are determined to bring a change to teach a lesson to the Marxist rulers in the coming Assembly elections, he said.

The BJP has been reaching out to the peoples doorsteps with the message of prosperity and the states bright prospect. We do believe, people will give a befitting reply to the situation created under the Marxist regime, he said.

Lamenting over the non-cooperation from the state government on welfare of persons with disabilities, Sampla said there are so many welfare schemes for the benefit of this section but little has been done for them.

Sampla further feels drug addiction is the main challenge to the nation after terrorism. The Ministry doesnt only fund running in de-addiction centres it also releases money to run rehabilitation for de-addicted persons. Unfortunately, the state has not sent any proposal to receive such opportunity, he alleged. BJP state prabhari Sunil Deodhar, BJP MLA Dilip Sarkar and former MLA Ratan Lal Nath were also present there.
