Launch of web page after Kirtinath Hazarika

GUWAHATI, June 20 - The Assamsurya Kirtinath Hazarika Smritirakshya Samiti will launch a web page in the name of renowned journalist Late Kirtinath Hazarika, founder editor of vernacular daily Dainik Asam published by the Assam Tribune Group of Publications, at a function scheduled for 1 pm of June 22 at the Guwahati Press Club here.

Noted linguist Bishweswar Hazarika will formally launch the web page at the function. The web page has been developed by Abhinivesh Sarma, said the Smritirakshya Samiti.

Late Kirtinath Hazarika, author of several books like Narodar Diary, Phutukar Phen, Alouguti Tolouguti, etc., had presided over the Hailakandi session of the Asam Sahitya Sabha. He was also instrumental in mobilising mass support for the oil refinery movement, language movement and anti-illegal migrants movement in the State. He was also a recipient of the Sankaradeva Award.

Hazarika died on May 4, 2002 following a massive cardiac arrest at the age of 77.
