GUWAHATI, Oct 28 - Rising star Rahul Hazarika has set a landmark in the State cricket by cracking a double century (222 n.o) in the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy match against Chattishgarh at Tinsukia.
Earlier, in the away match against Jharkhand he scored 113. With this constancy Rahul definitely deserves a berth in the State Ranji Trophy team as an opener. The officials of the Assam Cricket Association have to consider the performance of this young left handed batsman who has the ability to hit the ball all round the wicket. Meanwhile the former players of the State lauded Rahul performance in the U-23 championship which has been counted as next to the Ranji Trophy among the BCCI tournaments.
The ACA officials, including president Gautam Roy, secretary Bikash Baruah, senior member Niloy Dutta congratulated Rahul for his double century and century against Chattishgarh and Jharkhand respectively.
