Latest COVID-19 tests negative in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, April 23 - Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has stated that all the 59 COVID-19 tests received today, were negative. Meanwhile, the condition of all the 11 active patients in the State has been stable.

�We received results of 59 tests today and all are negative,� Sangma said. In all, 1,109 test samples have been sent out of which 1,000 results were negative and 97 results are still awaited.

The State Government has so far screened 24,382 persons, out of whom 5,208 are in home and institutional quarantine. Out of the total quarantined persons, 223 are primary contacts of the first COVID-19 patient of the State and 5,007 are secondary contacts.

Meanwhile, the State Government has stated that foodgrains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and non-NFSA have been distributed to 70,198 Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households. The total AAY beneficiaries stand at 2,90,989, who received rice at Rs 3 per kg. Each household received 35 kg of rice. Under the Priority House Hold (PHH), 3,51,305 households with 18,54,156 beneficiaries received 5 kg of rice per head at Rs 3 per kg.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), the AAY and PHH beneficiaries are also getting 5 kg of rice and one kg of pulses free of cost. They will get this assistance for April, May and June.
