Language most important factor for one�s identity: Sh�rhozelie

DIMAPUR, Feb 25 - Stressing the importance of identity, Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Sh�rhozelie Liezietsu today said language is the single most important determinant for one�s identity.

As such, he urged the responsible citizens to propagate one�s language to our children and younger generation so as to preserve and promote our own identity in this diverse ethnicity. He was speaking at the celebration of Sekrenyi festival, also known as Phousanyi, of Angami Nagas at Kisama near Kohima.

Describing Sekrenyi festival as an occasion to reminisce our culture and traditions by upholding the values of better understanding, maintaining peace and tranquility with our fellow beings besides celebrating the festival in a more refined manner, he added. Sh�rhozelie urged all the participants and leaders from different organisations to forget the past and keep only the good memories in the name of Sekrenyi festival.

The CM said Sekrenyi is the most important festival for the Angamis during which culture and traditions practiced by our forefathers are showcased and remembered in a significant way.

President of Angami Public Organisation Dr Vilhousa Seleyi highlighted the importance of Sekrenyi and how it is celebrated by the Angami community particularly in the villages.
