Landslides block Manipur highways

IMPHAL, July 30 � Manipur�s National Highway 39 has been cut off from the rest of the region after a heavy landslide at Maram area in Senapati district. The other National Highway 53 connecting the State with Silchar has also been disturbed due to mudslides at Tupul area in Tamenglong district over the past 24 hours.

The Imphal-Mao section of the NH-39 has been cut off due to landslide at Maram bazaar following heavy rainfall in the last few days. The landslide took place on Thursday cutting off the road totally leaving many vehicles stranded on both sides of the stretch.

The sources added that the repairing and clearing of the highway will take at least two to three days.
