SILCHAR, June 2: At least seven persons were killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rain in Cachar district and six persons died in a similar incident in Karimganj district on Tuesday.
Project officer District Disaster Management Authority Cachar, Shamim Ahmed Laskar, while talking to The Assam Tribune said that the incident took place in Joypur area of the district.
"All the deceased victims are from one family. We have sent SDRF and Assam Rifles will also join in the rescue operations," Laskar said.
On the other hand, six persons from Karimpur in Kaliganj area of Karimganj district lost their lives due to massive landslide, sources said.
