Land record update prog extended

GUWAHATI, May 16 � The Kamrup Metro district administration has decided to extend the Chief Minister�s Land Record Updation programme by another two weeks till the end of May on account of the good response from the public.

Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu told this newspaper that the drive, which covered all five revenue circles in the district, has been able to dispose of many cases relating to mutation, partition and conversion of land.

�The programme was supposed to have concluded today. But on account of the positive feedback to the initiative, we have decided to extend the programme till May 31,� Dr Angamuthu said.

Till today, a total of 5,743 mutation cases have been registered. Out of this 2,604 cases have been settled amicably. As many as 3,277 cases relating to partition of land were registered and of them 1,022 cases were disposed of. Regarding conversion of aksonia land (annual patta) to myadi (periodic patta), 279 petitions have been received and of them, 112 petitions covering 678 bighas, two kathas and five lechas of land were disposed of successfully.
