Land management, conservation panel formed

DERGAON, Aug 25 - A Village Land Management and Conservation Committee (VLMCC) was formed at Kamargaon Senior Basic School here today. The committee, according to the guidelines of the State Revenue and Disaster Management Department, was formed at a meeting held with social worker Pradip Hazarika in the chair.

Explaining the objective of the meeting, the secretary of Baruabamungaon Gaon Panchayat Lakhi Bara apprised the meeting that a village-level committee for the management and conservation of the government grazing and other lands is to be formed.

The meeting moderated by gaonburah Revakanta Dutta was addressed by the secretary of nature organisation AASHRAY, Sanjoy Kumar Hazarika. Explaining the details of the functioning of the committee, he said that the committee will be the guardian of the land resources of the revenue village. This includes Village Grazing Reserve (VGR), Professional Grazing Reserve (PGR), wetlands, vegetative cover etc.

Later the meeting formed the �Kamargaon Village Land Management and Conservation Committee (KVLMCC)� with Pradip Hazarika and Revakanta Dutta as chairperson and secretary respectively along with 19 other members.
