Lakhimpur's Meghashree Borah tops HSLC exam for 2019, Selim Ahmed from Goalpara tops Assam High Madrassa exam

GUWAHATI, May 15: Meghashree Borah of Sankardev Shishu Bidya Niketan (Lakhimpur) and Selim Ahmed of Rakhaldubi High Madrassa (Goalpara) topped the High School Leaving Certificate Examination and the Assam High Madrassa Examination, 2019, respectively, the results of which were announced this morning.

While Meghashree scored 594 out of 600 marks, Selim managed 561 out of 600 marks.

While the overall pass percentage of HSLC examination this year was 60.23, an increase from last year's 56.04 per cent, the success rate for High Madrassa examination this year stood at 58.18 per cent.

Among the districts, Dhemaji once again ruled the roost recording the highest pass percentage of 83.28.

Similarly, in the High Madrassa examination, Baksa recorded the highest pass percentage of 81.01.

From Guwahati, as many as four students managed to make it to the top ten ranks including three students from St Mary's HS School - Pratyasha Medhi (2nd), Anushree Bhuyan (3rd) and Christie Saikia (4th).

Priyanka Kalita of Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Noonmati secured the fifth rank.

A total of 336203 candidates, including 175939 female, appeared in the HSLC examination this year compared to 9127 candidates (including 5446 females) appeared in the High Madrassa examination.
