SILAPATHAR, April 5 - The Congress candidate for Lakhimpur Lok Sabha seat, Anil Borgohain and Congress workers blocked the NH 52 (now NH 515) for four hours today demanding immediate arrest of the culprits who were involved in an incident of stone pelting in which Borgohain was injured under Silapathar PS in Dhemaji district.
According to sources, The Congress candidate was coming back from Jonai to Silapathar after an election campaign with his followers, when a few miscreants pelted stones at his vehicle at about 4.30 pm. The candidate received injuries and his vehicle AS 22B 4284 was partly damaged.
The Congress candidate and workers blocked the road, which created havoc in the area. The SP and OC came to the site to take necessary measures. The road was blocked till the filing of this report.
