Lakhimpur DC holds meet with NEEPCO officials

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 14 - Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Jeevan B. today hold talks with officials of North East Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO) and Ranganadi Hydro-Electrical Power Plants (RHEP)and officials from neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh in a bid to work in coordination for managing flood-related problems for the ensuing monsoon season.

The meeting discussed in details about the emergent situation that gets created in the wake of the release of the dam water of RHEP by NEEPCO in the downstream areas of the river in Lakhimpur district. The meeting asked the officials from NEEPCO and RHEP to take pre-emptive measures to tackle the situation that recurs every monsoon.

The DC Dr Jeevan also asked the NEEPCO officials to intimate the Lakhimpur district administration and Water Resources Department instantly for any emergent action taken by them on releasing dam water on Ranganadi river. The meeting was also attended by the ADC of Papum Pare district, Arunachal Pradesh, Revenue Circle Officers of North Lakhimpur, Nowboicha, Bihpuria and Narayanpur and officials from the district Water Resources Department and Disaster Management Authority.
