SILCHAR, April 30 Even as the football lovers are largely confused about the entry passes ahead of the friendly encounter between Lajong FC Shillong and McDowell Mohun Bagan tomorrow, both teams looked in good touch. Both teams had their practice sessions at the SM Dev stadium here today.
Lajong coach Thangboi Singto said that though it has been a hectic football session for the side but for the development and promotion of the sport in North East, Lajong is always ready. Asked whether this will be a friendly encounter, Singto said that the side plays professional football and they are here to exhibit the same on the park. On losing to the same side in the last I-League match, Singto was of the view that the side could not snatch the chances which cost them the match. In football, every chance is vital and the teams must capitalize on the opportunities, Singto said adding quickly that they are hopeful of a good performance in their favourite ground here.
On the other hand coach of Mohun Bagan, Mridul Bannerjee was of the view that his side will play to its potential. Manager Swapan Bannerjee said that a few of the players who played against Lajong in the last I-League match will not be available in this friendship match.
Meanwhile, Match Commissioner Supriyo Bhattacharjee said the match will kick off at 5:30pm. DSA secretary Babul Hore said, We as venue partners are eagerly waiting for the exciting encounter between two very good sides. The preparations are almost done and we will have the final round of inspection in all segments on the match day so that the match could be conducted smoothly.
