HAFLONG, Jan 17 - The �Laikhuta� of the 9th special Asam Sahitya Sabha annual session was installed in the presence of a huge gathering at the NL Daolagupu Sports Complex here today.
The programme was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, Amarendra Barua along with the Sabha vice president Dr Parag Kumar Thakur, assistant secretary Deben Kakoti, office secretary Chandan Sharma, president of Karbi Anglong Sabha unit Pari Rongpi, central committee members Bhabesh Rajbangshi, Sukhendra Phonglo, Anjali Bora, Nripen Bhuyan and representatives from every community living in Dima Hasao .
Talking to the media, Ghanashyam Nath, secretary of the 9th special Sabha session, while appreciating the local people for their hearty cooperation to make the function a grand success, hoped that the people of Dima Hasao would also extend their helping hand for the main event which will be held on February 2, 3 and 4.
He said that preparations for the 9th special Sahitya Sabha annual session was in full swing. All the respective communities of Dima Hasao have assured all possible help to make this mega event a grand success.
This for the first time that such a mega event will be held at Haflong by the Sabha with an aim to promote the rich culture, tradition, language and literature of 14 tribes of Dima Hasao district.
