Lackadaisical attitude of education dept flayed

By Correspondent

HAILAKANDI, Sept 24 - The Hailakandi district committee of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti has demanded immediate appointment of regular principals in SS College and Lala Rural College.

In a memorandum to Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the committee alleged that due to the absence of regular principals, the academic atmosphere in both the colleges have virtually been ruined. They criticised the role of the higher authorities for not taking any steps for appointment of regular principals in these colleges and expressed serious concern for not publishing any advertisement for filling up the vacancies.

The memorandum, signed by president Abdul Ahad Laskar and general secretary Farid Uddin Laskar also demanded the appointment of teachers in the different departments of the college, as due to the absence of teachers, the classes are often suspended and the students are unable to complete the courses within the stipulated time, the memo added.

The memo also alleged that the results are declared only after three months have passed, though there is a standing UGC guideline to declare the results within 45 days, but this is not followed by the university. They threatened to start an agitation if the demands are not fulfilled immediately.
