DIBRUGARH, Nov 24 - The Minister for Cultural Affairs Naba Kumar Doley, MLAs � Chakradhar Gogoi and Rituparna Baruah, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha and several other distinguished personalities today paid their last respects to late Tarun Gogoi, the longest serving Chief Minister of Assam, at Dhemechi High School campus by observing one minute�s silence and offering floral tribute to the departed soul.
It is pertinent to mention that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the district administration here had scheduled the central event of the State�s Lachit Divas celebration at the playground of Dhemechi High School near Moran today. However, the celebration was called off due to the ongoing three-day State mourning following the death of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi yesterday.
In keeping with the Lachit Divas, the Minister and the dignitaries present recalled Veer Lachit Borphukan and paid homage to the great Ahom general.
