MANGALDAI, Sept 30 - Defending champions Laban Sports Club of Shillong retained the title in the ABSU, Dimakuchi organised 24th Bodoland Gallants Gold Cup Football Tournament on Sunday.
In the keenly contested title clash played at the Dimakuchi Mini Stadium, Laban SC edged past Yarkhok United Football Club of Manipur 2-1. Eljing Mut Lyngdoh was the star of the final match who netted both the goals for the winners in the 28th and 83rd minute respectively. For the Manipur outfit, Worchwpik Kasling netted the lone goal in the 71st minute.
Laban SC annexed the title and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while the runners-up Yarkhok FC collected a cash prize of Rs 30,000.
In the prize distribution ceremony, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary; EM, Sports BTC, Daneswar Gayari; Deputy Speaker BTC, Nerswn Boro and ABSU sports secretary Ganesh Basumatary were present as the invited guests, among others.
