Lab bearers develop grass cutting machine

By Tejesh Tripathi

BONGAIGAON, June 18 Necessity is the mother of invention. This was proved in the case of Bongaigaon Polytechnique where, a team of three laboratory bearers invented a grass cutting machine with their own efforts and ideas.

The technical institution has a big campus at a foothill at Barsangaon in Bongaigaon district. To clean and cut the wildgrass, the institution faces immense difficulties after every few weeks as the grass grew rapidly. The present principal of the institution Alok Kanti Pal Choudhury called the laboratory bearers, who have been working here as fourth grade employees, one day and requested them to think out a way to get rid of growing grass. Accordingly, three laboratory bearers Kishori Mohan Chaudhury, Dhyan Ch Medhi and Dwijendra Mohan Singha jointly made efforts to design a grass-cutter machine with laboratory scraps. By trial and error method, ultimately the trio invented a grass-cutter machine that runs with little power consumption.

With this machine now the laboratory bearers can trim grass of big campus within a short time with little physical labour. So, to praise and recognise the scientific skill of those laboratory bearers, the principal formally inaugurated the grass cutter machine on June 11 at noon in the premises of Bongaigaon Polytechnique. He thanked the trio for their innovative idea and scientific skill which was put to use in the interest of the institutions. The principal is trying to obtain a patent for the machine.
