GUWAHATI, April 9 � Gayatri Bhattacharjee, who worked as a journalist with NDTV, received the Laadli National Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2010-2011, a press release issued here said today.
Three special awards were given away in the function. Kathak exponent Sitara Devi received the Laadli Lifetime Achievement Award for Performing Arts, and Sindhuktai Sapkal for Social Service. Homai Vyrawalla, India�s first photojournalist, received the Laadli of the Century Award.
The award ceremony was held at the Tata Theatre, NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai, on April 8. Film director Ashutosh Gowariker and actor Rani Mukherjee gave away the awards. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and other dignataries and celebrities from the Hindi film industry and theatre world were present at the function.
�Laadli�, a girl child campaign by Population First, is aimed at building a society fair to all genders.
