TEZPUR, Feb 6 - GK Srivastava, the Additional Commissioner (Admn &Vig), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (HQ), New Delhi has urged the teachers serving in the Kendriya Vidyalayas spread across the country to be dedicated in their service and be honest with the students.
While speaking at the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan�s Regional Incentive Award Ceremony organized by the KVS Tinsukia region at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Auditorium at Tezpur University, he said that if the primary stage of education is not strong, then higher education can never be fruitful. �We will have to create new innovators and creators who will lead our society as well as the nation and this responsibility is to be carried forward by institutions like the Kendriya Vidyalayas.�
He added that 25 regional offices of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan are monitoring the Kendriya Vidyalayas in India. A total of 42 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the three States of Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh are catering to more than 26,000 students. Every year, the regional office felicitates the best teachers and staff from all the 42 schools in the KVS Regional Incentive awards for their excellence. He revealed that there are 1100 KVs all over the country and 60,000 teachers are serving there.
Gracing the occasion as the guest of honour, the VC of Tezpur University, Prof Mihir Kanti Choudhuri in his speech congratulated all the achievers and spoke about the importance of excellence in the field of education. He also released the regional Hindi magazine Aabha. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner, KVS, Tinsukia region, Arjun Pant in his welcome address said that it is indeed a moment of great prestige for all the awardees since quality and sincere work needs to be acknowledged at an appropriate occasion.
The chief guest GK Srivastava and the guest of honour, Prof Mihir K Chaudhuri, Vice-Chancellor, Tezpur University, were welcomed at the venue by the NCC cadets of KV No. 1, Tezpur. The incentive awardees were honoured by the chief guest with a cash award of Rs 5,000, a shawl and a citation. Ten teachers who earned honour for the region by winning gold medals at the KVS national sports events for teachers and staff of the region were also felicitated by the chief guest. National Child Bravery Award 2015 winner, Gunjan Sharma of KV Nazira and All India Mathematics Olympiad winner Master Ashutosh from KV NERIST, were also honoured for their achievements.
The felicitation programme was followed by a cultural programme by students of KV CU Tezpur, KV No. 2 Itanagar and KV Dimapur. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Dr D Manjunath, Assistant Commissioner, KVS RO Tinsukia.
