IMPHAL, Nov 1 � Kut, the premiere and post harvest festival of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo community in Manipur was celebrated in Manipur today. The main celebration was held at the 1st battalion Manipur Rifles parade ground here.
Mizoram Governor Vakkom Purushothaman accompanied by first lady and Manipur and Nagaland Governor Ashwani Kumar were the chief guests at the gathering which was marked by a sequence of colourful cultural dances and music by various communities including the host Kuki-Chin-Mizo tribes.
Ashwani Kumar said the festival has gained popularity as it carries the message of peace, harmony and progress for all the people.
A series of cultural dances and musical session followed by the traditional round of the Miss Kut beauty pageant with participation of 21 belles belonging to different tribes marked the festival�s morning session.
