Kundariya in Manipur on three-day visit

IMPHAL, Jan 13 - Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers� Welfare Mohanbhai Kundariya arrived here on Wednesday on a three-day visit to Manipur to assess the implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) taken up in the State.

The Union Minister attended the 41st foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and a farmers� programme at Lamphelpat. Agriculture Director Louis Ngasainao and Vice Chancellor of Central Agriculture University Dr M Premjit also attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister informed that a new crop insurance scheme will be launched soon in order to support the farmers. The formal launching of the new crop insurance scheme is expected to be announced at the State Agriculture Ministers� meeting on January 16 and 17. On Thursday, he is scheduled to interact with farmers and media. The Minister will return for national capital on Friday.
