Kumari Puja held at Dhubri

GAURIPUR, Oct 8 - The Marowari Sarbajonin Durga Puja committee at Kalibari Road, Dhubri organised Kumari Puja on the auspicious occasion of Mahastami, and 108 kumaris were worshipped, according to vedic rituals. Hundreds of devotees attended the rituals and offered anjali on the feet of the kumaris and sought their blessings.

Meanwhile, the Durga Puja committees of greater Gauripur area assembled in front of the office of the Gauripur Town Committee with the idols of Goddess Durga for immersion.

Singing and dancing and with the beating of the dhak dhol, members of the puja committees paraded on the main road of Gauripur for immersion, and thereafter the idols of Goddess Durga were immersed in the Gadadhar river.

More than a lakh enthusiastic puja revellers witnessed the immersion from the bank of the river. The immersion passed off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported. The local police made exemplary arrangements for the immersion.
