Kumar Sanjay Krishna appointed new Chief Secy

GUWAHATI, Dec 24 - Kumar Sanjay Krishna, a 1985 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, has been appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Assam. He is scheduled to take charge on December 31. Sanjay Krishna served the Government in different capacities. He served as Deputy Commissioner in the districts of Kamrup and Sonitpur, Managing Director of the Assam Tea Corporation, Director in the Prime Minister�s Office, Director of the Tea Board in New York, Joint Secretary in the Finance Ministry and Principal Secretary in the Departments of Planning and Development, Education etc. Presently he is serving as the Additional Chief Secretary looking after crucial Departments like Home, Revenue and Disaster Management etc.

Meanwhile, Jishnu Baruah, a 1988 batch IAS officer, has been posted as additional chief secretary in the home & political departments besides revenue and disaster management. He has been relieved from the forest & environment and excise departments.

According to a government notification, IAS officer Rajiv Kumar Bora has been relieved from the additional charge of chairman, Board of Revenue and additional chief secretary in the finance, soil conservation, and transformation & development departments. VS Bhaskar will be the new chairman of the Board of Revenue.

Principal secretary Syedain Abbasi, who was looking after PHE, water resources, IT, and science & technology, has been given additional charge of pension & public grievances.

In addition to cooperation and food & civil supplies departments, principal secretary Biswaranjan Samal will also look after hill areas department. Principal secretary Avinash Purushottam Das Joshi will also look after environment & forest, excise, and mines & minerals departments as additional charge.

Commissioner & secretary (elementary education, secondary education and cultural affairs) Preetom Saikia will also look after I&PR.
