GUWAHATI, Oct 4 - Incumbent Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia on Friday filed his nomination papers for the post of president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha for the session 2020-22.
Saikia, who is retiring in November, filed the nomination for the post along with six others � Dr Basanta Kumar Goswami, Prahlad Chandra Tasha, Dr Karabi Deka Hazarika, Suryakanta Hazarika, Pokhila Kalita and Dr Joyshree Goswami Mahanta.
Four candidates � Dr Basanta Kumar Sarma, Podumi Gogoi, Mrinalini Devi and Rotimohan Nath � also filed their nominations for the post of vice president, said Bijon Kumar Mahajan, spokesperson of the Sabha�s election committee.
Harendra Kalita, Jadavchandra Sarma, Padum Rajkhowa and Debojit Bora filed nominations for the post of general secretary.
Mahajan said the candidates would be able to withdraw their nominations on October 7 between 11 am and 2 pm. The final list of candidates would be announced after verification of the nomination papers from October 12 to 15.
