GUWAHATI, Nov 12 - Delegates of the Kuki community in Guwahati called upon the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to convey their gratitude for declaring Chavang Kut as a restricted holiday in Assam, on November 1, a press release stated.
The leaders from the Kuki Welfare Association, Kuki Students� Organisation and Kuki Worship Service based in Guwahati felicitated the Chief Minister with traditional clothes and attires.
Chavang Kut is a post-harvest festival of the Kukis celebrated with much fun and vigour in the States of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura in India and neighbouring country of Myanmar. The Kukis, along with their Mizo and Chin brethrens are settled in different States and regions across three different countries � India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
The delegates also conveyed the goodwill and gratitude of the Kuki Inpi, Assam which is the apex body of the Kuki community in Assam.
