GUWAHATI, June 19 - Kristi Boro of Assam and Sweta Samanta of West Bengal will fight it out for the girls U-18 singles title in the ongoing AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls U-18 years at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex in Chachal here.
In the semifinals played today, Kristi defeated Madhurima Mazumdar of West Bengal in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 while in the other semifinal Sweta Samanta outclassed Tania Kumari of Assam 6-2, 6-0. In the girls doubles final played today, Kristi partnering with Shatavisa Ghosh of West Bengal defeated Madhurima Mazumdar and Sweta Samanta of West Bengal 6-1, 6-1 to bag the crown.
In the boys singles quarterfinals, Tushar Paul of Assam, Ashish Kumar Parida of Odisha, Kritanta Sarma of Assam and Arif Afzal of West Bengal won their respective matches and reached the semifinals. Tomorrow girls singles final will start at 9 am and it will be followed by boys singles semifinals and boys doubles final.
