Krishna, Hirakjyoti clinch titles

SIVASAGAR, Sept 25 � Krishna Deka Raja of Dibrugarh and Hirakjyoti Neog also from Dibrugarh clinched women�s and men�s titles respectively in the All Assam Inter District and Open Badminton Championship which concluded at the Bhogeswar Baruah Indoor Stadium here this evening.

In the finals Krishna defeated Bibari Basumatary of Guwahati 21-17, 14-21, 21-11 while Hirakjyoti got the better of Nikhilesh Sarma of Guwahati 21-16, 21-17.

Earlier, Manjit Gogoi of Tinsukia won the boys U-16 title defeating his team mate Kashyap Neog 21-12, 21-13. Mayuri Phukan of Tinsukia took girls U-16 crown with a 18-21, 21-14, 21-17 over Barnali Konwar Dibrugarh in the final.

Kaberi Phukan of Tinsukia and Nikhilesh Sarma emerged champions in the girls and boys U-19 sections respectively.

A souvenir � Shuttle Power edited by Manoj Bhagawati, was released in the closing function by chief guest DC Nabab Mamud Hussain. Sivasagar DSA honoured sportspersons Anil Bhagawati, Jiten Deka, Jogesh Rajkonwar and Sujata Saikia on the occasion.
