GUWAHATI, June 20 � Eminent educationist Krishna Kumar Bora passed away at 4.30 am today at a hospital here. He was 84. Bora was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after a stroke. His last rites were performed at Nabagraha. He leaves behind his wife and a son.

He had worked as a professor of chemistry at the Darrang College and later in the Cotton College, where he taught for 17 years. Holding different posts in the field of education, he retired as director, Elementary Education, Assam in 1980. Post retirement, Bora also served as the chairman of Assam Higher Secondary Council and secretary of SEBA.

Apart from his role in many organisations and institutions like Gyan Bigyan Samity, Assam, Assam State Resource Centre and Asam Jatiya Vidyalaya, he was also associated with the educational reforms in the state.
