Haflong March 8: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dima Hasao, Assam organised International Women's Day on the theme “Leadership in Agriculture: Entrepreneurship, Equity and Empowerment” on Monday.
The programme was started with a welcome speech by Ms. Parkey Gogoi (SMS,
Horticulture) which was followed by a webcast from ICAR Headquarter on women
leadership. Also, two presentations on “Entrepreneurship development through agriculture and alled activities” were given by Ms. Rashmita Saikia (Senior Scientist & Head, i/c) and "role of women in aquaculture aspects” by Mr. Kabin Medhi (SMS, Fisheries Science).
In the programme, Mrs. Kimneihoi Lhovum was awarded with Women’s Day Award 2021 for her contribution in aquaculture and Mrs. Nibila Jidung was awarded the same as a successful women entrepreneur. A total of 42 participants from different parts of the district were present and made this programme a successful one. Seed distribution of some kharif vegetables was also done amongst the farm women. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. N. Manoranjan Singh (Programme Assistant, Vety. Science).
