GUWAHATI, April 23 - Assam has been selected for the Krishi Karman award in the �Oilseeds Category� for 2015-16. The award consists of a trophy, citation and cash amount of Rs two crore.
This was stated in an official communication of SK Malhotra, Union Agriculture and Horticulture Commissioner, to KK Mittal, Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner of Government of Assam.
Two 'progressive farmers from Assam, one male and one female, would also be given Agriculture Minister�s Krishi Karman Award for Progressive Farmers at the award function. Each farmer would get Rs two lakh along with a prashashti patra.
The Centre has asked the State to select and recommend two names for this.
The awards will be presented at a function to be held soon at New Delhi.
