Kokrajhar unit of Bodo Sahitya Sabha celebrates golden jubilee

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 3 - The golden jubilee celebration of the Kokrajhar district unit of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and the silver jubilee of the primary district committee of Bodo Sahitya Sabha was held recently with a two-day long colourful programme at Swarang High School in Kokrajhar.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest in the open session, Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Dr Kameswar Brahma said the sabha has been working for the all-round development of the Bodo medium, language and literature.

He also said that the sabha has faith on the ruling Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP Government in the State and urged the Chief Minister to take pragmatic steps to fulfill the long-pending demands of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and address the problems of the Bodo medium schools.

Criticising the previous Government, Dr Brahma said that the BSS submitted memorandums several times demanding a solution to their long-pending issues and held a series of discussions but the previous Government did not give any attention.

The open session was inaugurated by BTC Executive Member of Sports & Youth Welfare, Doneswar Goyary. Addressing the gathering, he said that the democratic organisations have an important role to play to reform the society.

Lorence Islary, general secretary of ABSU, Kamala Kanta Mushahary, general secretary of BSS, Dwajendra Nath Brahma, president, Kokrajhar district unit of BSS also attended the open session and spoke on the occasion.

Different literary competitions, seminar and other programmes were also held during the celebration.
