Kokrajhar DC holds meet on poll at Gossaigaon

GUWAHATI, April 6 � The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Thaneswar Malakar, today visited the Gossaigaon subdivision and attended a meeting of high-ranking officers of the sub-divisional administration, including Manoj Baruah, SDO (Civil), Gossaigaon, and police administration, different political parties, and organizations including Dr Kameswar Brahma, president, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, leading citizens and the press.

The Deputy Commissioner informed the participants about the steps taken by the administration to ensure a smooth and peaceful poll

in the district, an official release said.

Malakar expressed happiness over the fact that no violation of the model code of conduct had taken place till date. He appealed to all concerned to cooperate with the administration to ensure that no breach of peace occurs in the coming days, too. He also gave instructions to the subdivisional administration to ensure that liquor shops remained open only between 2 pm to 8 pm.

In a separate meeting with high-ranking officers of the subdivisional administration and police administration, Malakar reviewed the functioning of the various cells engaged in the election process.
