KOKRAJHAR, Sept 27 - The Kokrajhar district administration has made all preparations to celebrate the Durga Puja peacefully in every nook and corner of the district. All arrangements have been made for the celebration.
Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar, Bibekananda Choudhury on Tuesday said that the necessary arrangements have been made for peaceful celebration of the Puja across the district. He said that the district administration has already held meetings with the puja committees and guidelines have been issued besides some prohibitory orders within the puja mandap.
The puja committees will work in accordance with the instructions of the district administration and rules must be followed by the committees for the peaceful celebration, he said adding that the security arrangements have been made and traffic police will control the movement of vehicles as per chalked-out plans.
Choudhury said there were over 200 puja mandaps across the district this year including 53 in and around Kokrajhar town, 58 in Gossaigaon and 35 in Fakiragram. He also said that the number of puja mandaps could increase in Kokrajhar as some small teams are erecting mandaps in new places. In Chirang, sources said there are 78 Puja mandaps.
The Kokrajhar district administration has appealed to all sections of people for peaceful celebration of Durga Puja and urged them to cooperate with the administration in maintaining law and order.
