Kohora Model Hospital ready to treat asymptomatic COVID-19 patients

By Correspondent

KAZIRANGA, June 18 - The team of doctors and paramedical staff of Kohora Model Hospital have made every necessary medical facility ready to treat asymptomatic Covid-19 positive patients in the hospital.

According to information available from hospital sources, the Kohora Model Hospital is equipped with 35 beds, out of which 25 beds are kept for the male ward and 10 beds for the female ward. Initially, there was a plan to convert this hospital into a 50-bed one but due to lack of sufficient space, it was decided to make it a 35-bed hospital for treatment of asymptomatic Covid-19 positive patients. If the Covid-19 hospital beds at Golaghat get filled up completely, then remaining Covid-19 positive patients will be shifted to Kohora Model Hospital for treatment.

There are three doctors in the hospital and another six doctors are expected to join here for treating the Covid-19 positive patients. Similarly, there are five staff nurses and some more nurses will be coming to Kohora Model Hospital to provide uninterrupted services to the patients.

Hospital sources said that if any patient is found to be symptomatic and show any symptom during the course of treatment, then the patient will be shifted to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for further treatment as Kohora Model Hospital does not have any ICU and ventilator facilities, which are very important for treatment of any critical Covid-19 positive patients.

Necessary security measure will be taken at Kohora Model Hospital whenever any Covid-19 positive patient is admitted, said the hospital sources, adding that every ward has been connected with CCTV cameras to monitor the activities of Covid-19 positive patients.

The cold storage and other immunisation facilities, which were there in the new building of Kohora Model Hospital ( now converted into Covid-19 hospital), had been shifted to the old building located adjacent to the new hospital building as a safety measure, said hospital sources in Kohora today.
