GOSSAIGAON, Feb 27 - The Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani will hold a political convention at Dudhnoi in Goalpara district on March 24 next, ahead of the parliamentary elections in the country. This was decided at a public meeting held at Dudhnoi on February 23 after the central executive body of the Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani in its last meeting held recently at the Chilarai Bhawan in Guwahati had resolved to hold the convention.
A public meeting was held under the aegis of the Goalpara District Committee of the Sanmilani at Haria Mondal Bhawan Dudhnoi, Phaphan on February 23 to discuss about the holding of the convention. In the meeting, the central committee�s general secretary Ranjit Kr Roy, treasurer Subodh Talukdar, organising secretary Bhaskar Roy, assistant secretary Deepak Roy spoke.
The meeting was presided over by the district president Sushil Roy. Naresh Chandra Barman explained the purpose of the meeting. The meeting discussed elaborately about the holding of the political convention. Dhiren Roy, Bhaskar Roy, Kulanarayan Patgiri, Dwijen Das, Jogen Barman all leading persons of the area gave their valuable suggestions for successful holding of the convention. Later, it was decided that the convention will be held on March 24.
Accordingly, a strong reception committee was formed with Manmohan Das as president, Jogen Barman as executive president, Bhaskar Roy as general secretary, Dhiren Roy as treasurer along with a 31-member full-fledged committee. Nearly 1000 representatives of the community are expected to attend the convention.
