BONGAIGAON, June 15 - Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram�s recent take on granting of tribal status to the six communities, including the Koch Rajbongshis, had triggered widespread reaction among the Koch Rajbongshi groups.
The All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Yuba Chatra Sanmilani activists hoisted a black flag at Barpara public field this morning to protest the negative comments by Union Minister Oram regarding the Scheduled Tribe issue of the Koch Rajbongshi and other five communities of the State.
�If the BJP-led Union Government does not meet our ST demand soon, we would take a tough stand against the party in the coming polls,� Sanmilani president Troilokya Ray warned.
Members of Koch Rajbongshi Sangram Samiti and All Koch Rajbongshi Students� Union burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Jual Oram and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal separately at Barpara today and criticised the BJP Government for its double standard regarding grant of ST status.
