Koch-Rajbongshi body demands ST status

DOOMDOOMA, Nov 4 - The Tinsukia district committee of Koch Rajbongshi Sangram Samity (KRSS) in association with its Phillobari unit organised a public meeting at Phillobari recently which was attended by the KRSS central committee president Dulal Rai, vice president Deepak Rai and several other leaders of the organisation. The meeting urged the government to accord ST status to the Koch-Rajbongshis before the 2021 Assembly polls.

A press statement issued by Nitul Rajbongshi, the president of the Tinsukia District Committee of KRSS urged the State government to constitute the Koch Rajbongshi Development Council so as to allot more funds for the all-round development of the Koch Rajbongshis.

The organisation said that it would launch a strong agitation against the BJP-led State government, it threatened.

Moreover, the KRSS in the statement warned the ruling BJP not to use the issue of according ST status to the Koch Rajbongshis as an agenda in their election manifesto.
