�Know your border� trip for students organised by BSF

SILCHAR, Dec 15 - The Mizoram and Cachar Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a visit to the Indo-Bangla border at Harinagar BoP for students participating at the science camp that was held at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here.

In a release issued to the media on Thursday, a BSF official said that the visit was organised on the request of Professor Shibaji Bandopadhyay, Director of NIT Silchar.

The visit, planned and conducted under the programme �Know your borders and BSF� was conducted under the guidance and direction of Dr KC Mahali, Inspector General of BSF to draw attention of the budding future citizens towards the borders of the country and the efforts by the security forces to protect the nation�s sovereignty.

The official further informed that around 150 students from all over the state who took part in the camp were a part of the border visit.

Further, the official mentionef in the release that during the programme the students were introduced to the BSF and its functioning along the international boundary. They were shown various kinds of weapons and equipment used by the BSF.

A short documentary on the BSF titled: India�s First Line of Defence was also screened for the students followed by a presentation-cum-interactive seminar by DIG JC Nayak. The programme was aimed to give insight on the operations of the BSF and to motivate them to join the force as a bright career option.

On behalf of NIT Silchar, Professor Kedar Das and Professor SK Tripathi accompanied the students during the border visit.
