KMSS stir against non-Muslim immigrants

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 11 - Protesting against the Union Governments circular granting entry and stay rights to the non-Muslims from Bangladesh coming to India by December 31, 2014, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today staged sit-in demonstrations in all the district headquarters.

The farmers body alleged that Assam would have to bear the burden of additional illegal infiltrators due to this decision of the Centre.

The KMSS also strongly criticised the act of carrying out the construction work covertly in the Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project site.

The NHPC has secretly started work on the LSHEP site where construction work has been stopped since 2011. We warn the Union Government, the big dam lobby and the NHPC against such activities, said a statement.

The organisation asked the Union Government to roll back both the decisions immediately for greater interest of the State and its people. If the Government does not take action on our demands, a stronger public movement would be launched in future, added the statement.
