KMSS slams Centres record note

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 4 Terming the record note the gist of the discussion on big dams of the Northeast in New Delhi held on December 11 as an exercise in falsehood, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today said that the developments had laid bare the game-plan of Delhi to go ahead with dam construction in Lower Subansiri in utter disregard to the genuine apprehensions and protests of the States populace.

The KMSS said in a statement that a copy of the record note of discussion made available to the participants in the discussion did not at all reflect the deliberations, particularly the apprehensions and stand taken by the States representative bodies.

The KMSS had in the discussion called for small dams in the Northeast and we also gave our notes of dissent on several critical issues but the record note mentions none of these. A glance at the record note will give the impression that Assams representatives made a complete surrender before New Delhi during the meeting, Gogoi said.

Gogoi added that the record note also made it clear that the main issues of concern raised by the State were totally rejected by the note.

Gogoi further said that other organizations and the experts from Assam, who took part in the meeting in Delhi, should make clear their stand following the release of the Centres record note in the greater interests of the States people.
