GUWAHATI, May 26 The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) members today registered their protest against the anti-Assam and anti-people stance of the Bharatiya Janata Partys (BJPs) Narendra Modi-led Central Government. The Narendra Modi-led Government today completed its one year in power.
The KMSS said in a statement here this evening that the Modi Government has been functioning in an autocratic manner. It has also reduced itself into a government of ordinance and it has been severely curbing financial allocations to the states.
This government has rolled back on the decision of the previous Union Governments to accord special state status to Assam and is now making bids to resume construction of the 2000-MW Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Power Project and has approved construction of the 2880-MW Dibang Multipurpose Project without consulting the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Moreover, this government, going against the earlier stand of the BJP, has gone for handing over 720-acre land of Assam to Bangladesh, alleged the KMSS.
In the city, its members resorted to a sit-in demonstration on the bank of the Dighalipukhuri since 11 am today to register their protest against the anti-Assam and anti-people stance of the Modi Government.
