KMSS protest rally in Dispur

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 25 Thousands of activists of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today staged a protest rally in front of the State Secretariat in Last Gate area reiterating its demand for a CBI probe into the multi-crore scam in the NC Hills.

It also vouched for a thorough investigation into the alleged involvement of the seven State Cabinet Ministers reportedly named in a report submitted by the National Investigation Agency to the Central Government.

The KMSS activists, who assembled from various parts of the State, also demanded an impartial inquiry into the large-scale misappropriation of funds in the name of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in the State.

The KMSS activists while registering their protest also broke the barricade and marched on the road shouting slogans.

KMSS general secretary Akhil Gogoi, said: The State Government has totally failed to live up to the expectations of the common man and we demand a justified solution to the problems engrossing them.

Slamming the State Government and the Supply Minister for the rise in the price of essential commodities, the Samiti insisted the Government to put in place in mechanism to check the same at the earliest.

The Samiti also asked the Government to streamline the public distribution system in the State.

The KMSS warned the Government of intensified protest if the grievances of the general public are not addressed.

If the public grievances are not addressed at the earliest, we would resort to rigorous protest across the State from March 31, he added.
